Doll, by Ed McBain

This is quite an early book in the 87th Precinct series (it was written in '65 I think). Not so pacey and funny as Money Money Money but still readable. The story is of the investigation into the murder of a famous model, who's killed while her little girl plays with a doll in the room next door.

Again, "police procedural" sums up the story pretty well - the interest comes from the way the crime is investigated more from any suspense about who was responsible. I probably wouldn't read this one again, although I'll try more in the series.
