Another good one from the VSI series. There were several bits of information I picked up on:
Evans makes the point that the "hydraulic" theory doesn't make much sense from an evolutionary perspective: it's hard to see why natural selection would have ended up with this kind of system.
E.g. for "guilt", it's possible to explain why natural selection would have eliminated it, and he does, but then goes on with another explanation of why NS would not have eliminated it. And because we do experience guilt, then NS must be true, QED. This type of reasoning seems a bit dubious to me.
