Howards End, by EM Forster

I've read this before, but some time ago, and reading On Beauty made me want to re-read it.

I'd forgotten so much of this book: in fact it was a bit embarrassing to see how much the Zadie Smith book borrows from it without my having recognised it. This was a really good read though: well written, moving and thought-provoking.

Having recently finished an essay on the aesthetic attitude, I thought that Henry Wilcox reminded me of George Dickie: he just doesn't seem to get the point of art at all.
