Keeping the Dead, by Tess Gerritsen

I think this follows directly from The Mephisto Club and is the one about a serial killer who preserves the bodies of his victims in various ways (mummification, head-shrinking, etc.). The first one turns up in the basement of a museum, and some of the things found on the body have an especially sinister significance for one member of staff in particular.

This was a reasonably good one. Not particularly tense (except for one bit where one of the victims tries to make an escape from her dungeon) but pretty readable.

There was some involvement with the Mephisto Society which didn't feel particularly relevant but I guess she's trying to keep the characters running through the series of books
