This is a Jack Parlabane short story, and I got it because it seems to be a prequel to a JP novel so I thought I'd better read them both.

It's not a bad story although it does seem short, but it feels like a very toned-down Parlabane. I'm not sure what Brookmyre is doing here - whether he's fed up of writing the stuff that made his name, or whether he's not got that in him any more. At any rate, it was a bit disappointing. I'm hoping that the novel is better.
