Little Girl Lost, by Brian McGilloway

DS Lucy Black, looking after her father, who's suffering from dementia, comes across a little girl wandering in the snow. The girl has blood on her clothes but seems to have lost the power of speech. DS Black gets the girl to hospital and is frustrated when she's not allowed to investigate the case...

Oh dear, another 99p Kindle "deal of the day" which I got suckered into buying because of the 5* reviews. It was really weak and formulaic. Another female detective trying to avoid being sidelined in an investigation and having to cope with personal problems, come to terms with unpleasant aspects of her own past.

I couldn't maintain interest in this. This was "DS Lucy Black book 1", but I won't be reading any more.
