Mr Majestyk, by Elmore Leonard
This is quite a short book but quite a lot happens - the eponymous Majestyk
wants to get his watermelon crop in but gets put in jail after fighting
off a local punk who's trying to muscle in on his farm, and then he finds
himself involved in a break out by a mafia hitman who he's sharing a prison
van with....
A short but fun read, funny because all Majestyk wants to do is to get his
watermelons harvested, and so there's a weary air to the way he deals with the
problems he encounters - which he does very efficiently.
