Never Mind, by Edward St Aubyn

The first of the Patrick Melrose novels. Supposedly heavily autobiographical.

Book focuses on three couples: David and Eleanour Melrose are parents of Patrick; the other two other couples are their friends. What is striking is how unlikeable all the adults are. David especially nasty to his wife and son. And they don't really like each other much either. Some funny lines. e.g. on describing someone being found in bed by his wife with two other women: "she decided not to stand by him"/"it doesn't sound like there would have been room"

I've got the first three in the series on audiobook so I'll plough through the next two.

Completed : 19-Dec-2019 (audiobook)
