This book follows on from The Wire in the Blood, being the third in the series about Tony Hill and Carol something. In this one, Carol is recruited for a dangerous assignment in Europe, where she's meant to infiltrate a criminal gang who are smuggling illegal immigrants, but stumbles across a serial killer and so gets Tony involved.

Not so explicitly nasty as the previous book, maybe because the serial killer was a sort of minor part of the storyline, taking third place after the immigrant thing and the development of the relationship between Tony and Carol. It was an OK read but not really anything special - not as good as the previous two books.
