Starts off with a woman in prison who's about to give birth. Some back-story is provided about how she got there, and as the contractions get closer she's bundled into a police car and taken to a hospital, still thinking about the people on the outside.

Boring: I couldn't keep attention on this. I believe, from looking at Amazon reviews, that there are multiple related threads in the book, of which I sampled only the first. But after an hour or so I gave up.
