Trunk Music, by Michael Connelly

In this one, Harry Bosch and his team are called in to investigate the murder of a small-time film producer, found shot to death in the trunk of his car. At first, it seems like the guy has got on the wrong side of an organised crime racket, but as Bosch digs deeper, it turns out things may not be quite what they seem.

This was a pretty good one. Lots of police procedural stuff, nice bit of inter-departmental politics, interesting crime etc..

In this one, Harry (re-)meets Eleanor, who used to be an FBI agent but is now making money as a semi-professional gambler, after having lost her job when she was convicted of a criminal offence (not sure what this was, maybe covered in a previous book?) and gets involved with her; at the end of the book they get married.

After this one, I went straight on to Angels Flight, which follows on directly, and picks up the story of Harry and Eleanor nicely.
